Also known as: Storwize V7000, Storwize V3700
IBM's discontinued mid-range and entry-level virtualized SAN storage brand (V7000, V3700, and others), replaced by IBM FlashSystem in 2020.
Storwize was IBM's brand of virtualized SAN storage systems, running the Spectrum Virtualize (now Storage Virtualize) software stack, spanning the entry-level V3700 up through the mid-range V7000. A meaningful number of AS400/IBM i and Power Systems environments still have Storwize hardware attached, even though IBM discontinued the entire Storwize line on February 12, 2020.
IBM FlashSystem is the direct successor across every Storwize tier, not a newer Storwize model, which is the detail that trips people up when they search for a "new Storwize" replacement. A V7000 workload typically maps to a FlashSystem 7600 or 9600 depending on capacity, while a smaller V3700 environment usually fits a smaller FlashSystem tier. See Storwize V7000 and Storwize V3700 for model-specific status and support notes, and FlashSystem.AS400System.com for the current FlashSystem line those models replace.
