Managed AI SIEM

Know who investigates and who can respond

Match the SIEM service to the work your team needs covered. Agree on monitoring hours and response authority so an urgent case reaches someone who can act.

Distinguish the platform from the managed service

A SIEM platform collects and analyzes security data. A managed service assigns some of the ongoing work to a provider. An AI feature changes neither the need for that work nor the need to name its owner.

MDR is a related service category with a defined detection and response scope. It is not automatically included because the platform supports case management. Compare managed SIEM with running your own platform when deciding how much to retain internally.

Our AI Native SIEM product overview gives the platform context. Confirm the separate service statement for the people, hours and response tasks included in your proposal.

Assign the work before choosing the service

Managed AI SIEM responsibility checklist
ResponsibilityQuestion for the proposalCustomer decision
Source onboardingWho installs collection and fixes parsing?Name the system owners who approve access.
Monitoring and triageWhich hours and event types are covered?Set urgent contacts and a backup contact.
InvestigationWho validates the evidence and gathers missing context?Provide application and business ownership.

Reporting and service reviewWhich coverage gaps and case decisions are reviewed?Assign someone to accept and track the work.

Keep source maintenance in the service scope

Someone must notice when a feed stops or a vendor changes its format. Ask whether parser maintenance and onboarding new sources are included or separately billed.

IBM i sources can require help from the system administrator and a security-software supplier. Identify that dependency in the proposal. A service can only investigate records it receives and understands.

Define monitoring hours and escalation behavior

Ask what happens to an urgent case outside your business hours. Specify the channel and who is contacted when the first person does not answer.

Distinguish the time to acknowledge a case from the time to make a containment decision. A service target can measure one without promising the other. Keep the contract wording and reporting tied to the same clock.

Use a scheduled exercise to test contact details. An escalation procedure that nobody has tried can fail even when the product itself works.

Agree on evidence and customer context

The provider should show why a case was closed or escalated. AI summaries can assist the analyst, but a customer needs the supporting record and any unresolved gap.

Business context often stays with the customer. A privileged account may run a critical overnight job. Give the service an owner it can contact before treating a familiar account change as harmless or authorizing containment.

Make containment authority specific

List the actions the provider can take without a new approval and the actions that always require one. Keep exceptional systems and shared accounts explicit.

Test that the connected tools enforce those limits. A response playbook should show the requested action and record its outcome. Review AI response governance for evidence and permission requirements.

Review the service by outcomes and uncovered work

Ask for a report that identifies connected-source health and decisions requiring follow-up. Separate automated case summaries from analyst-reviewed conclusions.

Review missed expected detections and unsupported sources alongside resolved cases. Alert totals alone cannot tell you whether the service protects your most important business systems.

Include internal coordination time when comparing prices. Build the full cost comparison with the managed-service scope shown separately.

Bring your security question to Midland

Tell us which systems you need to protect and where investigations get stuck. We can review the AI Native SIEM offering against that requirement.
