The VT3L5 page gives 12 TB compressed from 3 TB raw and lists 1.5 disk bays. Those entries need configuration confirmation; they are not converted into a normal bay count or a promised compression ratio. The source also states 224 TB additional capacity and a 256 TB maximum without reconciling each base size.

Cybernetics physical tape and recovery
The integrated LTO 5 drive provides a removable-media copy when the backup workflow exports data to tape. The family also describes external offload of up to two drives / 24 slots for 2U models or four drives / 48 slots for 3U models. Match the enclosure height and supported library before ordering.
For IBM i, check the appliance firmware, tape emulation and connection against the Power system and operating-system release. Test the required full-system save and restore procedure with the fitted configuration. General family compatibility language does not establish every IPL or restore scenario.
Compare other virtual tape configurations
For higher published appliance rates and larger disk expansion, compare the CIL and CIT virtual tape models. For removable cartridges and automated tape changes, compare IBM physical tape libraries.
Cybernetics miSAN VTL configuration qualifications
- The previous page combined Cybernetics branding with VTL2000 / VTL3000 / VTL4000 and sixteen-stream specifications. The dedicated miSAN sources instead identify VT12L5 / VT6L5 / VT3L5 and six virtual drives or libraries; unrelated family specifications have been removed.
- VT3L5 source: 3 TB raw, 12 TB compressed and 1.5 disk bays require confirmation.
- The common 224 TB expansion / 256 TB maximum wording does not reconcile every base model; no derived maximum is promised.
- Published 50:1 or higher deduplication language is workload dependent and is not used as a capacity guarantee.
