These IBM R11 frame limits supplement the catalog configuration of fourteen LTO drives and 882 cartridges. Frame position, I/O stations, service space and Capacity on Demand licences change available slots. A maximum frame count is not a capacity calculation for an installed library.

Physical slots and licensed slots are different. Record both before adding frames or cartridges. A second accessor can reserve service areas; use the actual frame layout to calculate usable capacity.

The R11 guide permits mixed LTO and 3592 frames in one library. Each frame retains its media role, and a drive still reads only its supported cartridge generations. Confirm the exact drive interface and firmware rather than assigning one connection to the entire library.
TS4500 floor space and high availability
This is a floor-standing frame system. The installation plan needs floor loading, movement access, service clearance and power for every frame. Feature 1442 adds the second accessor through an eligible expansion frame. Top rack TR1 adds 10U above a frame; TR2 adds 5U where overhead clearance is limited. Those racks and their equipment have separate loading and power requirements.

- The Midland overview gives fourteen drives / 882 cartridges. IBM R11 describes up to sixteen drives in eligible position-2-or-later HD2 frames. Both scopes remain visible.
