CIT7324 Virtual Tape Library

CIT7324 virtual tape library specifications

CIT7324 virtual tape configuration

A virtual drive is a presented tape device, not a physical LTO drive. The base virtual-resource counts describe the dedicated model configuration; more virtual drives or libraries can require additional licences. Record concurrent save jobs separately from the number of hosts.

CIT7324 disk capacity and expansion

Published bay and capacity limits describe a fully expanded configuration. Confirm disk sizes, RAID reserve and spare drives to obtain usable capacity. Compression and deduplication depend on the backup data; do not size retained backups from an assumed reduction ratio.

CIT7324 connections and backup rate

4 x 1 GbE per controller; 2 x USB 3.0; 5 feature slots. Optional attachment choices in the family include Fibre Channel, SAS and faster Ethernet; the installed adapters and supported emulation decide which a host can use.

The appliance rating is an aggregate performance claim. A single 1 GbE or 10 GbE connection cannot carry the full 8 GB/s rating. Include the host adapters, switch ports and concurrent save streams in a throughput quote. We check IBM i release and Power model support for the selected connection.

CIT7324 physical tape offload and recovery

The model supports external tape offload in a compatible configuration with up to 4 physical drives and 48 slots. Offload needs a supported physical library, media and the correct attachment. A disk VTL remains online unless a separate copy is removed or isolated.

Optional encrypted replication, retention locking and cloud export can add recovery choices. Confirm the selected licence and destination, protect the encryption keys, and test a full system restore before relying on the recovery copy.

CIT7324 retention sizing

Send the full-save size, daily changed data and retention schedule. Include how long a full restore can take and whether an off-site copy must be readable without the original appliance. We can turn those figures into disk capacity, expansion shelves and virtual-drive licences for the quote.

CIT7324 virtual tape library configuration qualifications

• The source alternates sixteen LPARs with sixteen streams from six LPARs and later says CIT7124. This page retains sixteen base virtual drives / libraries but does not promise a supported host count.
• The dedicated maximum rounds to 6.6 PB while the family comparison gives 6.68 PB.

Plan your CIT7324 virtual tape library configuration

1. Identify the hardware. Send the complete model and serial number with drive labels, installed firmware and host adapter details.
2. Check the backup job. Include the operating system, backup application and full-save size with the available backup and restore windows.
3. Record retention and media. Include cartridge generations or disk retention, the key-management arrangement and the off-site recovery copy.
4. Confirm installation. Record rack or floor space, rear service clearance and the existing power and cable connections.
