Published bay and capacity limits describe a fully expanded configuration. Confirm disk sizes, RAID reserve and spare drives to obtain usable capacity. Compression and deduplication depend on the backup data; do not size retained backups from an assumed reduction ratio.

CIT5324 connections and backup rate

4 x 1 GbE per controller; 2 x 12 Gb SAS; 2 x USB 3.0; 5 feature slots. Optional attachment choices in the family include Fibre Channel, SAS and faster Ethernet; the installed adapters and supported emulation decide which a host can use.

The appliance rating is an aggregate performance claim. A single 1 GbE or 10 GbE connection cannot carry the full 4 GB/s rating. Include the host adapters, switch ports and concurrent save streams in a throughput quote. We check IBM i release and Power model support for the selected connection.

CIT5324 physical tape offload and recovery

The model supports external tape offload in a compatible configuration with up to 4 physical drives and 48 slots. Offload needs a supported physical library, media and the correct attachment. A disk VTL remains online unless a separate copy is removed or isolated.

Optional encrypted replication, retention locking and cloud export can add recovery choices. Confirm the selected licence and destination, protect the encryption keys, and test a full system restore before relying on the recovery copy.
