Capacity on Demand lets a Power Systems server ship with more processor cores or memory physically installed than are initially activated. Extra capacity can be turned on later, temporarily or permanently, without a physical hardware change, useful for planning ahead of predictable growth or a seasonal peak without buying a larger machine up front.
